I write today about Contagious Motivation, how it can spark motivation and energy in others. I write software, I make things when I have a need or problem to solve. I write software for myself or for others. I enjoy talking about its design, effort needed, the tech stack involved. Sometimes though I forget to share my work, sometimes I can't. For my public code I tend to build for my needs, mention it but never let folks look it over or play with my projects. Not sure if all out of fear of ridicule or critique. I shared a project recently and a friend happened to go back and look through my code and enjoyed the project. I wouldn't have received that reaction without sharing. As we discussed the software for a bit, that sparked some imagination in my friend. They too wanted a project to call their own and sought out something. Sharing is needed I realized. Conversation happens, outcomes for people get changed. I too was touched by the interaction, I value that persons input deeply. To be told I am a Go programmer, after years of Ruby and other things, from this person meant a lot. All in good fun and jest.
We have moved into discussing a trio programming session, as another friend joined the discord as we were discussing things. Contagious Motivation in motion. Figuring things out together is more fun than hacking alone or talking to AI. I look forward to our sessions as we solve things like same editor for paired programming and what to build! Our ideas have the ability to push and inspire others to great things. Seek to push your fellow man forward always.
